as usual such a good gelato...always worth it

I didn't really think very much of it. Very limited selection, everything already had things mixed into it. Just didn't think it was worth the price.

Sorry you didn't enjoy. But what do you mean about the mix-ins? Many of the flavors are plain. All the sorbets are just fruit, sugar and water. And the fior di latte is as plain (and yummy) as can be! :-)

I also didn't think much of this. Maybe it's gelato, but it's not semifreddo, that pungent ice-milk stuff they offer you in Italy. Too rich, too creamy, too (should I say it???) American! I'm not looking for chocolate chip cookie or m and m's, just something honest and delicious that doesn't stay with me for hours. I don't think this is it, Sally. It might be good of its kind, but its kind is 31 flavors. Maybe Bleecker St could use some place that exalts the great old local stuff — spumoni, tortoni (remember???) — but anyway not some overloaded Italy of fantasy.

I wonder if we ate at two different places? I certainly don't remember any M&Ms at Grom...

For what it's worth, I also ate Grom gelato in Italy, and there was a huge line. So it must be popular with at least some Italians!

But to each their own :-)

I didn't mean I found M&Ms, only that the mentality of the place was richer-creamier-MORE: cookie-dough, M&M's, Oreos…. The semifreddo I've had in gelaterias in Italy is wonderful for it's delicacy and lightness, and is made from milk, not cream. The fallen Italian dairy giant Parmalat has a few gelaterias in the states (in western New York, Atlanta, Miam Beachi, Wallington, NJ even) and the stuff I've had there was terrific. But as you say, we probably each go to our own private Italy.

Jolivore your comments don't make sense. Grom gelato or other gelato makers per se make gelato with milk not cream. I happened to visit Grom in Turin, its homeplace and the gelato there is exactly the same as the one in NYC. You might not like Grom but you can't say that their product it's not natural or creamy. But then you might be a McDonald fan
